Please meet Poppy and her Mama, Terrie, our latest workshop models. Not only are they gorgeous, but they have an amazing story as well. Little Poppy is deaf but will be able to hear thanks to Cochlear implant technology, just like her big brother. This was one opportunity we had to do a newborn session without the white noise machine running! My good friend, Deb, photographed Terrie when she was pregnant with Poppy. For a visual treat and beautiful words about their journey, check out Deb’s blog post from a couple months ago! Terrie, thank you so much for braving the outdoors with your new little lady!

Outdoors Indoors.

February 6, 2010

There is something about the combination of a sweet baby and mother nature that inspires Brittany and I… so this winter, we were determined not to let the rain and 60° weather (yes! that is cold to us southern Californians! and even more cold to a wee little sprout who is accustomed to frolicking in 98.6°) “dampen” our creative vision! Recent showers have sprouted many beautiful fields of green in my neighborhood, but it was still too chilly for a naked baby. So why not bring the outdoors in? My creative partner, Brittany Woodall, put together this amazing set a few weeks ago and sadly, it does not last long. We will continue to rebuild, remaster and seize the moment on those occasional  warm winter days (see below). Both images courtesy Brittany Woodall, © Baby as Art. And for those of you interested in seeing the indoor set up, I posted it a couple weeks ago on flickr: here.
